The two Austrian building material lists define legally binding requirements and conditions of use for building products so that the building products concerned may be used in Austria. Their abbreviations stand for “Europe” (ÖE) and “Austria” (ÖA). Both lists of building materials are drawn up jointly with the building technology experts of the federal states at the Austrian Institute for Building Technology and published as ordinances.
Important to know: No specific products from specific manufacturers are entered in the lists themselves.
Building materials list ÖA
- It serves to define the conditions of use for construction products for which no harmonized standard yet exists and which therefore do not have to be CE-marked.
- Construction products that belong to a product group of the Building Materials List ÖA require the ÜA marking for use in Austria, unless they bear a voluntary CE marking based on a European Technical Assessment (ETA).
Which construction products are affected?
Not all building products are included in one of the two lists of building materials, but only those for which usage regulations have been defined due to their importance on the market and their safety relevance. The following applies to all others: The requirements of building law and the OIB guidelines must always be complied with. This results in certain requirements for the building product used in specific construction projects.
