If a construction product is not covered—or is only partially covered—by a harmonized European standard, the European Technical Assessment (ETA) offers economic operators the opportunity to nevertheless place construction products on the market throughout Europe. It is a customized declaration of performance that allows the manufacturing company to obtain a CE marking and enables it to offer construction products throughout the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Turkey in full compliance with the law.

With an ETA (short for European Technical Assessment), construction products obtain the basis for CE marking. This not only opens up access to European markets, but often also facilitates market entry in other regions worldwide. At the same time, however, use in different countries requires alignement between the product performance and the respective national regulations for use. The ETA creates a solid basis for this coordination.
