Our expertise for you
The Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering deals with central tasks relating to construction engineering and construction law.
With the development of the OIB guidelines, it supports uniform building specifications in Austria and ensures that there are clear requirements for the use of building products in Austria through the prescribed building material lists ÖA and ÖE.
In its role as the Austrian Technical Assessment Body(TAB) and as a national approval body, the OIB issues assessments and approvals so that construction products can be made available on the market of the Union or on the market in Austria in accordance with the law.
In addition, the OIB coordinates between the federal states and (inter)national bodies, supports the federal states in drawing up construction products and market surveillance laws and, as the market surveillance authority, monitors the construction products made available on the market in Austria.
As a product information center for the construction industry , the OIB provides information on guidelines, construction products and usage regulations, informs about news in construction law and provides access to numerous databases.
On the following pages you will learn more about the core tasks of the OIB and its contribution to the reliability and comprehensibility of building law and construction specifications.
