Ref. No. 23.2 Slabs, paving stones, kerbstones What does class 1 mean for the characteristic value resistance to freeze-thaw cycles under no. 23.2?

Class 1 in the previous edition of EN 1341 (2002 edition) (and therefore in the specification in the ÖE list of building materials) was defined by a maximum loss of breaking strength of 20%. In the new edition of EN 1341 (2012 edition), the characteristic value is given as a declared value (without a limit value). The limit value “maximum loss of breaking strength of 20%” can now be found in section 6.1.1 of ÖNORM B 3108, 2014 edition. By referring to ÖNORM B 3108, it can be concluded that the limit value of 20% applies with the (original) citation of class 1.

These explanations also apply analogously to this characteristic value in accordance with EN 1342, whereby it will be clarified in the next amendment to the Building Materials List ÖE that ÖNORM B 3108 (2014 edition) also forms the basis for the product group no. 23.2.3.
