How does the number assignment by the OIB work?

A consecutive four- or five-digit number issued by the Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering must be applied for in order for the registration certificates to be issued. This four- or five-digit number is part of the letter-number combination of the registration certificate.

This serial number is determined at the time of application. This means that the entire combination of letters and numbers is based on the time of application.

This also includes the two-digit figure for the year of application.

The application for the number is made by the registration office at the OIB.

The abbreviated designation of the registration certificate is defined in the Annex to Article 17 of the Agreement pursuant to Article 15a of the Federal Constitutional Law on Cooperation in the Construction Industry and on the Making Available on the Market and Use of Construction Products and consists of the letter “R” (for registration certificate), the identification number of the construction product, the last two digits of the year in which the product registration was applied for and the serial number assigned by the OIB. The abbreviation must be presented in a standardized form in accordance with the following example:

R-1.3.1-00-0001.
