European Technical Assessment (ETA)

Key to the European market

Basis for placing on the EU internal market

If a construction product is not, or only partially, covered by a harmonised European standard, the European Technical Assessment (ETA) provides economic operators with the possibility to nevertheless place such construction products on the European market. It serves as a tailor-made proof of performance, enabling the manufacturer to obtain CE marking and allowing construction products to be marketed legally throughout the entire European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Turkey.

International reach

With an ETA (short for European Technical Assessment), construction products obtain the basis for CE marking. This not only opens up access to European markets, but often also facilitates market entry in other regions worldwide. At the same time, however, use in different countries requires alignement between the product performance and the respective national regulations for use. The ETA creates a solid basis for this coordination.

Technical Assessment Bodies, such as the OIB, support you throughout the process of obtaining your ETA. Together, we ensure that your product receives all the necessary verifications to be marketed across Europe. If you are unsure whether an ETA is the right path for your product, our experts will be happy to advise you.
