The OIB guidelines are a central component of building regulations in Austria. They serve to harmonise the building regulations of the federal states and form the basis for legally compliant and uniform enforcement.

As a Technical Assessment Body, the OIB enables manufacturers to place their products on the market through European Technical Assessments (ETAs) or Construction Technical Approvals (BTZ). The Baustofflisten ÖA and ÖE ensure safe use in Austria.

In its role as market surveillance authority, the OIB checks construction products for compliance with applicable regulations. This is done through active market surveillance programs, but also in response to reports and suspicions.

As a Product Contact Point the OIB offers comprehensive information, such as the requirements for construction products in Austria, the lists of construction materials, CE marking and the ÃœA installation mark. It also offers access to numerous construction material related databases.
