The OIB guidelines are a central component of building regulations in Austria. They serve to harmonize the building regulations of the federal states and form the basis for legally compliant and uniform enforcement.

As a Technical Assessment Body, the OIB enables manufacturers to place their products on the market through European Technical Assessments (ETAs) or Construction Technical Approvals (BTZ). The building material lists ÖA and ÖE ensure safe use in Austria.

As the market surveillance authority, the OIB checks construction products for conformity with the applicable regulations. This takes place in active market surveillance programs, but also as a result of information and suspicious activity reports.

As a product information center the OIB offers comprehensive information, such as the requirements for construction products in Austria, the building material lists, CE marking and the ÃœA installation mark. It also offers access to numerous databases.
